Peter A. Marotta, R.D.I. – FOUNDER
Peter has spent over 40 years working on all phases of supermarket store planning, construction, engineering, and maintenance areas. Over this period of time, he has been involved in over 1000 stores, totaling over 20 million square feet. He is a professional member of the Retail Design institute (R.D.I.).
While Director of Technical Services at Foodarama, Shoprite, he remodeled the complete chain, 48 supermarkets, to be friendly to handicap shoppers. This was over 25 years before ADA. Peter was quoted as saying “It was the correct action for our customers”. The Easter Seal Society in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania certified the stores as “Barrier Free”.
Peter has been closely involved in the past with this industries two influential trade shows. Peter along with two colleagues developed the original energy guide for FMI (Food Marketing Institute) and chaired the presentation.
Peter has also served as an advisory board member of SPECS (Store Planning, Equipment, and Construction Services Seminar) for over 33 years and has made numerous presentations at annual seminars.
Peter has been active in the Boy Scout Program as an adult for the last 30 years serving as Cub master, Scout Master, Adult Leader Trainer, District Chairman, and Executive Board Member. He was given the opportunity to develop and direct a “Wood Badge” advance-training course for Scout Masters, for the Greater New York Councils. The course was an amazing success. It aimed at developing leadership skills in adults, to be passed on to their scouts. (Wood Badge is a world wide training program of the Boy Scouts.)
